November 4, 2011

The nurse that oversaw my transplant on Monday, stopped by this evening, for the first time since my transplant, to say hello. Her immediate reaction was of “disbelief”.  She told me that I should have had a plethora of side effects, however, I had none.  Truly, I have none worth mentioning.  No fever, no nausea, no mouth sores, no body aches … nothing.  It’s the reverse, I feel great, my hair is still growing, my body is full of energy.  Actually, every doctor who stopped by had voiced amazement regarding my state. PTL!

Per the MDA transplant protocol, it takes 7 days for the donor’s stem cells to position themselves within my bone marrow.  Accordingly, on day 7  (this coming Monday) is when the bone marrow stimulation will commence.  I will be given 1 bone marrow stimulating injection a day until my bone marrow starts producing cells via my donor’s stem cells. They expect needing a longer engraftment period in my case since I received Bone Marrow Cells.  Accordingly, if all goes well, they are expecting it to take 2-3 weeks before I am done.  Of course, we might end up with another miracle and I might check out earlier than expected. 🙂

I am in amazement at this stage.  Simply humbled.  The Lord has been too good … although I am sitting in a furnace, I do not even feel the heat, actually, the heat seems unable to touch me. PTL

I greatly appreciate and need your prayers (thank you).  The next few weeks are very critical and it is obvious that the Lord has been encouraging us all to return to prayer and to lift each other up. James 5:16

Well, Sami, now you’ve made me cry in the middle of a Logos Prep football game! Jeff and I are in disbelief, too! We have been praying that you would be strengthened, but this is immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine!! Praise God!! I can’t stop thinking of the day when you can meet your donor and share these stories. Imagine how God will work in his life through this! AMAZING!!

Well well…no surprise….you have 24hr team all over the world lifting you up……and if God knows every hair that falls…don’t you think He knows and orders every fallen one to arise from sleep again? Khalas…no hiding behind a beard or hair-do …..how lovely to have the Grace of God loving us in our nakedness and depravity…..how uplifting-humbling experience to all of us, may you always be an instrument of His love..

    Sami,
Sending lots of love, strength, perseverance, prayers, peace, and faith. You and the whole family are in my thoughts daily.

I have this quote tucked away and it seems relevant here: “There are moments, it would seem, that were are created in a cosmic theatre where we are given strange and fantastic tests. In these times, we do not show who we are to God, for surely He must already know, but rather to ourselves.”

    With love
    – Rima

Sami, we do not know each other personally, but i was praying for you my dear brother, because I am the cousin of your wife jacquline and above this I am an M.D and I know what is the meaning of all that you went through. I knew from the begining of your problem and felt sorry for all that was happening with you, but I waited till now to hear the good news and I followed your condition all the time through your blog.I myself had such a problem in 1997 with a Laringeal cancer and PTL as you say ,He saved me and now I am well and good. Thanks and blessings be to Our Lord Jesus. I think the Lord loves you and your wife and He has a lot to do with your family still from now on. Glory be to His name, and waiting to meet you ASAP.

Dear Sami, my name is Eva Abbas. I am a student of Mrs. Lahoud your mother. I live in Ottawa Canada since 1993; but I say (am student of your mother’s) because I will always be one. Mrs. Lahoud taught us lessons that stay with us as long as we live. One thing I remember about you that she told us once was that you dreamt you were choking a blind guy when you were a child. We took your mother from you too much that you missed her presence in your life. Believe me, that sacrifice was worthwhile. We all consider Mrs. Lahoud a mother who influenced our very lives and beliefs in a way nobody else in the whole world would have done. I learned about your condition today and read the last few pages of your journey. It’s really amazing how you held on with your deep faith. I prayed for you to the Lord and to Our Lady and thought of letting you know that my prayers and heart are with you and with Mrs. Lahoud. I will visit your blog everyday and follow the news. You’re a dear brother, Sami. God bless your heart. Eva Abbas.
